Testing possibilities to extract selected landscape characteristics for description of indication-relevant bird species habitats in the Krkonoše Mts. from remote sensing data
Polák, Mojmír ; Kupková, Lucie (advisor) ; Janík, Tomáš (referee)
The thesis uses remote sensing data from two spatial scales (Sentinel-2 with a 10 x 10 m pixel and PlanetScope 3 x 3 m. It explores the possibilities of extracting selected landscape characteristics (spectral indices, land cover type, landscape metrics). In order to evaluate which characteristics and at what scale are statistically significant for the occurrence of 23 selected bird species, species richness in quadrats and the number of species of the order Passeriformes in the Krkonoše Mountains. Data on species occurrence were mapped in the year 2012-2014 The strength of the relationship between characteristics and abundance was determined by Pearson's correlation coefficient. It could not be confirmed that data with higher spatial resolution would be more beneficial for extracting landscape characteristics. Overall, the landscape characteristics did not prove functional relationships for all selected species, but for some species, species richness, and order of Passeriformes, the assumption of elevation and land cover as important factors was confirmed. Land cover was analysed using the Random Forest supervised classification method in Google Earth Engine with an overall accuracy of 78 % for Sentinel-2 data, both in tundra and in the rest of the area, and 77 % for PlanetScoce data in tundra, 66...

Collectivization of agriculture and its projection to the landscape. Case study of cadastral area Široký Důl
Kocmanová, Pavlína ; Skaloš, Jan (advisor) ; Bartoš, Michael (referee)
Diplomová práce Kolektivizace zemědělství a její promítnutí do krajiny ABSTRACT I searched changes in the cultural landscape structure in the relation with social processes in the time period 1937-2010 in my thesis. The research refers to the second half of 20th century, or more precisely, to the era of collectivization of Czechoslovak agriculture. In consequence of collectivization, the landscape was ecologically devastated and overall the nature of Czech countryside changed. Analysis of the landscape structure has form of case study of cadastral area of Široký Důl. I interpreted landscape changes from historical aerial photos and then analyzed the changes by geographical information systems. The results of those analyses are indicators (landscape metrics), by which I interpreted conditions of landscape in particular time. I confronted the changes in the landscape structure with social processes, which are described in theoretical part of thesis according to background research. Result of my thesis is general story of particular landscape, whose structure changed fundamentally in consequence of collectivization of agriculture. Evaluation of landscape changes in the Krkonoše Mountains national park using remote sensing and landscape metrics
Karvánek, Matouš ; Kupková, Lucie (advisor) ; Štych, Přemysl (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis was to analyse of land cover and landscape state in the Krkonoše Mountains National Park between 1999 and 2007, using supervised classification and landscape metrics calculation. After the classification (Maximum likelihood algorithm) based on legend with 8 categories (5 types of vegetation, arable land, water areas, other areas), overlay analysis was performed by change detection and map sof land cover state and changes were created. The changes of the landscape and landscape components state were evaluated using landscpae metrics in software Fragstats. The overall accuracy for the image from 1999 was 81,50% and for the image from 2007 83,25%. Based on results i tis possible to conclude, that the area of forests increased and as fr the species composition the share of deciduous forests increased during this time period. Shift to a less diverse landscape was recorded based on landscape metrics evaluation. Coniferous forests comprised the landscape matrix in 1999 and also in 2007. Changes of landscape structure in the different landscape types
Lebduška, Lukáš ; Romportl, Dušan (advisor) ; Chuman, Tomáš (referee)
Landscape structure is affected by combination of human and natural influences. Changes, which took place in landscape structure of Czechia depends on degree and intensity of human influence in different types of landscape. This work was devoted to problematics of landscape structure changes, which took place between years 1950 and 2018, and how did they affected the landscape microstructure and land cover in different landscape types. These changes were computed in model location of 1x1 km in size, set by random selection in landscape types. These model locations were compared based on aerial photography from fifties of twentieth century and from year 2018, and on their basis were computed landscape metrics and analysed land cover. The changes which took place in these locations were the compared. The calculations had proved the difference in change of landscape structure, especially by homogenization of landscape. In these changes are evident differences, specific for each landscape type. Keywords: landscape structure, landscape heterogeneity, land-use, landscape metrics, change of landscape
Landscape structure and its differences among landscapes in the Czech Republic
Duspiva, Marek ; Chuman, Tomáš (advisor) ; Romportl, Dušan (referee)
Landscape structure has a major influence on functioning and processes in a landscape. The landscape structure is highly dependents on the natural conditions and economic use of the landscape. This thesis devotes to general theoretical issues of landscape ecology, especially landscape structure and its evaluation. The main aim of the thesis was to analyze the landscape structure in landscape types of the Czech Republic and to evaluate whether these types differ in the structure. Landscape structure analysis was performed using landscape metrics calculations based on CORINE Land Cover data. Landscape structure can be characterized by a large number of metrics. The following metrics were selected for the analysis and description of landscape types: Patch density (PD), Mean patch size (MPS), Edge density (ED), Shannon's Diversity Index (SHDI) and Shannon's Evenness Index (SHEI). The metrics were calculated for the whole area of each landscape type and also for all squares 2 km x 2 km covering the whole area of the Czech Republic. Although used data have a relatively low resolution, the calculations and the analysis of variance have shown that the character of the landscape structure differs between the individual landscape types. Land cover and landscape structure change due to urban sprawl on the outskirts of Prague
Keprta, Antonín ; Chuman, Tomáš (advisor) ; Romportl, Dušan (referee)
(Sub)urbanization significantly change the character of the landscape in the suburbs. Moving population and economic activities in the hinterland of cities initiates changes of land cover and landscape structure. The landscape becomes more fragmented mainly due to transport infrastructure that binds to the construction of new commercial and residential areas. Characterizing landscape structure is possible using landscape metrics. For the analysis of Prague hinterland was selected 7 landscape metrics (percentage of land cover categories, number of patches, mean patch size, mean shape index, total edge, mean distance to the nearest neighbour and DIVISION index). Metrics were selected based on the research of world literature dealing with the phenomenon of urban sprawl. The aim was to select appropriate metrics describing landscape composition and landscape configuration, but at the same time with clear interpretation. The results suggest that significant changes in the landscape structure occured during period of 55 yaers, in the Prague suburb. Most new buildings, whether residential or commercial, were built especially on former agricultural land. There is obviously lack of protection from the urban sprawl.
